Robert Smith, Independent Economist
Robert Smith is an independent economist at East Economics and a long-term council member of the ESA NSW branch.
With over 40 years in management consulting, banking and finance, infrastructure, transport and energy, he has covered topics as diverse as research reactors, crony capitalism, deer farming, dog worming, energy efficiency, cricket promotion and supported employment for people with disabilities. He is passionate about using economics to find creative, efficient, and practical solutions that can be explained as clear and compelling stories. He believes in the potential of applied economics to inform better decisions and the value of pragmatic and robust cost benefit analysis.
