About the Speaker

Alexandra Humphrey Cifuentes is an economist in Frontier Economics’ urban economics and water practice, focusing on using economics to help address challenges and opportunities posed by urban growth and climate change across water, energy, liveability, biodiversity and other social infrastructure. This includes advice on the critical nexus between sustainable urban development, water security and water sensitive urban design.

She specialises in undertaking economic evaluation, including the development of innovative economic models to assess the economic value and risk of policy, regulatory or investment programs in a world of uncertainty. Her recent experience in the water sector includes assessing the cost and benefits of water restrictions for Sydney Water, developing the economic and funding analysis underpinning the Lower Hunter Water Security Plan, assessing the value of integrated land use and water cycle management in South Creek and developing cost benefit analysis and real options analysis models of the value of recycling and desalination schemes across Australia.
