3rd Annual Warren Hogan Memorial Lecture

The 3rd annual Warren Hogan Memorial Lecture will be held at the University of Sydney on 26 November 2013, to be delivered by Dr John Laker AO, the Chairman of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
This annual lecture series, sponsored by the School of Economics at the University of Sydney, is devoted to the economic analysis of public policy issues and commemorates Warren Pat Hogan (1929–2009), Professor of Economics in the University of Sydney, 1968–1998.
John Laker is a graduate of the University of Sydney (BEc Hons, ’72), where he was a student of Warren Hogan, and the London School of Economics (MSc ’74, PhD ’78). He has been Chairman of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority since 1 July 2003, twice reappointed to that position. Dr Laker worked at Commonwealth Treasury and the International Monetary Fund before joining the Reserve Bank of Australia in 1982. In 1994, he was appointed RBA Assistant Governor (Corporate Services) and in 1998, Assistant Governor (Financial System) and Deputy Chair of the Payments System Board. Dr Laker is APRA’s representative on the Payments System Board, the Council of Financial Regulators, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Trans-Tasman Council on Banking Supervision He is also a Director of the Centre for International Finance and Regulation.
