The ESA is pleased to welcome the authors of Trading Nation: Advancing Australia’s interests in world markets to present a lunchtime seminar. From wool and gold to minerals, manufacturing and services, the authors will discuss the history of Australia’s trade since Federation and tackle questions that are central to our future:
• How can trade policy address our faltering productivity performance and lift living standards?
• What value can be salvaged from the Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations?
• What can we expect from new free trade agreements?
• Is there more we can do to expand trade with Europe, India and Latin America?
Trading Nation is an important new book about Australia’s trade, and has been endorsed by Tim Fischer AC, Simon Crean and Peter Drysdale AM.
The authors of Trading Nation, Mike Adams, Nic Brown and Ron Wickes, are former long-standing officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Between them, they have a wealth of experience – more than 90 years collectively – in the analysis of Australia's trade and the implementation of trade and economic policy.
