The Economics of AI: What to focus on, What to ignore
The release of ChatGPT in late 2022 has unleashed a wave of speculation on the future direction of artificial intelligence and its impact on the economy. With the stakes high but the list of uncertainties vast, there has been a wide spectrum of viewpoints and rising concern by the general population, especially on the jobs outlook. By drawing on experiences seen during previous general purpose technologies, and the economics framework more broadly, this seminar separates the economic impacts that are likely to proceed slowly and be relatively benign from those that should be receiving immediate attention.
This event is in-person only.
