AI is not being hyped enough
Large language models (LLMs) have been publicly available for years, but double-digit productivity growth is yet to eventuate. You may be tempted to conclude that AI's impact will be modest. If so, you would be wrong. This talk will share a practitioner's view of the changes currently roiling the global tech sector, and present the bull case for why we should expect them to extend elsewhere through the economy.
About the speaker
Dr Jamie Hall was part of the small team that developed Meena and LaMDA, early foundational LLMs, at Google Brain. Prior to that, he worked as an economist in the RBA's Economic Research department. He is now the cofounder of an AI startup based in Sydney.
