Attendees will have the chance to hear directly from the globally renowned economist and author at her first address in AustraliaProfessor Mazzucato\, who has gained global prominence through books like&nbsp\;The Entrepreneurial State\,&nbsp\;Mission Economy&nbsp\;and &ndash\; most recently &ndash\;&nbsp\;The Big Con\, will provide an address on industrial development and innovation in a less secure\, more geopolitically fraught\, post-Covid global environment.Like much of the rest of the world\, Australia is rethinking its approach to industrial policy in the wake of Covid-induced supply chain shocks\, energy transition issues and the growing geostrategic competition.
Professor Mazzucato&rsquo\;s Australian speaking tour arrives at a historically significant moment for the nation.
In fact\, Australia&rsquo\;s industrial policy thinking has shifted in a way not seen in 40 years. Issues of sovereign capability\, sovereign supply chains\, friend-shoring\, strategic alliances across critical technologies &ndash\; these are all mainstream discussions today.Professor Mazzucato will be available for a book signing following the lecture.
