SEMINAR DETAILS
Join us for “USAID Cuts, Australia, and the Future of International Aid and Development,” presented by Roland Rajah, Lead Economist at the Lowy Institute and Director of its Indo-Pacific Development Centre.Abstract:
Abstract:
Global aid is under pressure. Major donors like the US, UK, and parts of Europe are dramatically cutting back—just as the world faces more instability, climate threats, and competition for influence. In this wide-ranging talk, Roland Rajah will explore what these shifts mean for the future of development cooperation: from whether aid really works, to China’s growing role, the implications for climate finance, whether the private sector can fill the gap, and the outlook for Australia’s aid in the Pacific, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
