Research Economist (APS 5) - Productivity Commission | Locations: Canberra and Melbourne
We are seeking skilled and motivated research economists in our Canberra and Melbourne offices. These positions offer the opportunity to undertake in-depth economic analysis and provide policy advice, working on major public inquiries and other research.
The work is wide-ranging with topic areas that vary from year to year, including analysis of market operation and competition, productivity, social issues and the environment, regulation, economic infrastructure, resources, and trade.
Successful applicants will demonstrate a range of capabilities including a well-developed understanding of economic concepts, the ability to undertake applied research and analysis as well as be able to communicate clearly and influentially, build and maintain constructive working relationships, and effectively plan and progress work. Academic qualifications in economics are essential.
The Productivity Commission is the Australian Government's independent research and advisory body on a range of economic, social and environmental issues affecting the welfare of Australians.
